Patrolling

Okami tread stealthily through the forest, her huge paws making no sound on the frozen ground. Narakun's green eyes searched the tranquil woods for any sign of anything out of the ordinary.

What was I thinking, getting involved in this crap.... Narakun thought resentfully. This doesn't concern me, so I don't know why I'm concerned with this.

She sighed as Okami came to a stop by a small brook. She'd been out for almost an hour, but nothing queer had happened at all.

An icy breeze swept through the air, ruffling through Narakun's short, dark hair.

The frosted forest showed no signs of anything unusual--but that was what scared Narakun the most.

Ever since I've come here, there's just about always been some enraged Pokemon....This stillness doesn't feel right. she thought.

A blob of snow fell from the tree above Narakun, drenching her with snow. Her head snapped up, and she glimpsed a Glaceon, but only for a moment, as afterward it was zipping around her, occasionally flashing in at her and snapping at her legs.

Narakun tried to fight off the Glaceon, but was only able to block a few bites. Her pants were ripped and her legs were beginning to bleed slightly.

But that wasn't the problem to Narakun. It came out too obviously, like it wanted me to pay attention to it, rather than sneak in quickly and kill me fast. Somethings not right.....

A roaring snarl made Narakun jump. She whirled, and what she saw frightened her more than anything.

Okami was running for her, teeth bared. She looked more dangerous and bloodthirsty than ever.

"Okami! What are you doing?!" Narakun screamed.

Okami was big, but not sluggish. She'd sprinted in and ripped at Narakun's arm before she could move.

What's going on?! Narakun thought desperately. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't reach Okami telepathically. Could....could Okami be enraged, even though she's already a tamed Pokemon?!

The thought terrified Narakun.

She reached into her small bag that she always kept with her, although it was usually hidden.

"Okami...forgive me!" Narakun murmured. She whipped out a dart and threw it with perfect accuracy. The needle struck Okami in the back of her neck, where it wouldn't damage her much but it stuck neatly in a bloodvein that was directly connected to the heart.

Okami staggered a bit, then fell.

"At least the sedative's working..." Narakun muttered. She returned Okami to her Pokeball.

Looking around, she noticed that the Glaceon had gone. The footprints in the snow revealed that it had left in a hurry, probably scared by the sudden fall of Okami.

Slowly she shuffled off, trying to follow the tracks.

After walking only a few feet, however, she tripped in the deep snow.

She tried to left herself, but stopped when she saw how red the snow was getting.

Somehow, Narakun managed to haul herself over to a tree. She pulled out the PDA that Kaen had given to her before she'd gone on patrol.

Although she hated to admit it, she was in almost as bad shape as when she'd met her Sneasel.

She tried calling out for a while on the radio, and then stopped to bandage her arm as best she could--her medical kit didn't have much wrapping, and her inch-deep rips had punctured many veins, not to mention that the bite might get infected.

After that, Narakun went into a semi-unconscious state. She was aware of the world around her, but her vision was blurring and the pain in her arm was numb.

And yes, I'm planning on killing Narakun one day....Maybe when I'm 30 in RL and I'm sick of this site. XD jk))

"Y-You need some help, I think I can," said a nervous voice.

((What? Narakun won't be old enough to retire by the time I have to leave this site for one reason or another!))

Narakun tensed up at the unfamiliar voice, regaining enough consciousness to speak. "Who're you? Whaddya want?" she said with fierce hostility at the unfamiliar person. She shifted slightly so that her weak arm and the bloodstains on the know and her clothes weren't visible. She didn't want to seem weak in front of a stranger.

((Yeah, I know you in RL, but Narakun doesn't in RP.))

Kaen jumped down from a tree. He saw Narakun and someone he never saw before. He looked at the half-alive, yet just as fierce Narakun wary of the newcomer. Did she attack her?...that can't be it...unless she controls ice.... Kaen walked up so he was visible to the two, and headed over to Narakun,at the same time asking the newcomer,"I don't mean to sound rude, but I need to know. Did you attack Narakun?" he then saw the marks on her arm. He continued healing her, waiting for some sort of response from either one of the girls.

Narakun glared at this strange new person.

"I dunno. She looks cute and innocent enough to be Mitsuki, from Aima's descriptions." Narakun growled, slightly shying away from Kaen as well.

All she really needed was more bandaging and some antiseptic and she could take care of herself from there.

Her eyes burned a fiery red, but so did her cheeks, in fear of this new girl and in embarressment for being cared for like a kid.

((Actually, Aima told me about Mitsuki before in RL, I forget if she mentioned her like that in RP.))

"Who's Mitsuki? My name is Nagara Nagareboshi. I just resently came to the island!" She said in a scared way.

Narakun just looked away.

"Huh. Didn't think that it'd be her anyway, she wouldn't show up so soon, and not in front of me most likely." Narakun muttered.

She winced in pain as she tried to stand, coughing up bits of blood occasionally from the effort. "Gotta get after that Glaceon," she said fiercely. "It's gotta be going somewhere...."

Narakun wrote:

"No wait, I can help you in about about a minute, and I have a Manetric I'll loan you to catch up to that Glaceon. I've studdied herbs for ten years!" she pleaded. Nagara had no idea who this goth-looking person was, but she did know she could help.

Sure, studied them, but has your life ever really depended on them? I'll bet not. thought Narakun.

She looked up into the new girl's eyes, albeit suspiciously. "Thanks, but no thanks. There's no herbs out here in this frozen place, and if I need a chaser, my Houndoom will do much better, being a Fire-type. And if he tires out, my Umbreon is just as good at tracking." she said coldly.

Narakun braced herself and, with a final heave, she was standing up, although she had to support herself against the tree.

But...what if Takibi or Sakura become enraged, too? Okami would never turn on me, so something must have been wrong....And that Glaceon was only a distraction while someone toyed with Okami's mind. Narakun thought out carefully.

And that Glaceon--however violent--didn't seem to be enraged. Its eyes were clear, and it attacked with what looked like a lot of prior experience....

That Glaceon belonged to someone behind this. There's no other explanation. she concluded. There couldn't be any other way....right? That Glaceon must have been.....

The pain in her arm made her dizzy. With an experienced eye, she checked herself.

After a quick but thourough examination, she had confirmed that each puncture from the canine teeth were about an inch deep, the humerus ((upper arm bone)) was bruised, and the rips made from the rest of the teeth had caused clean cuts about a half-centimeter deep. Aside from that, since the wounds came from a dog's mouth, chances of infection were high.

However, she wasn't a quitter. Narakun would finish the job, even if she had to track the Glaceon off the island.

Nagara was taken back. She figured out this person was no quiter, but she could tell this wasn't pride, or stubbernness, it was both.

" I have everything I'd need! Even if you know how to heal youself, these medicines would be better in the long run! I even made a tonic that I have tested, and it works, for making sure a scar wont happen! But if you want to bleed your life out, thats fine with me, but you dont want help!"

Kaen looked up at Nagara as he stood up. "Good to know we'll have another ally here..." he mumbled. He looked at Narakun and asked "Do you want any backup with you this time?" he asked.

Narakun hesitated. As much as she probably needed help, she had never been good at working in a team. People near by often made her distracted and uneasy.

Normally, she would say no. She had always been able to rely on her Pokemon if things went wrong. In this case, however, she was wounded and couldn't be entirely trusting and reliant on her Pokemon.

She sighed. "I don't know that I have another choice if I'm gonna finish this...."

She released her Flygon, Sabakurei, and her Houndoom, Takibi, from their PokeBalls. The loyal Flygon lowered himself to help Narakun get on.

"Wait..." Narakun said before Sabakurei got ready to take off with her and Takibi.

She tossed something at Kaen. It was a silvery bell on a red ribbon.

"It's a Soothe Bell. I didn't think that we'd need them before, but circumstances have changed." she said as she tied another one around Sabakurei's neck.

"I only have two. Make sure that you don't lose that, and put it on the Pokemon you'll be relying on the most." she said firmly.

Nagara had three bells with her. She released Pattern, her Arbok and put one on him, and Electron, her Manectric, and put the other on him."It's better if I treat you in the Nurse's office" Then she jumped on Electron.

Far away, Mistuki smirked.

It was a good thing she cast an illusion to hide the Glaceon's eyes.

That brat would probably be lead to think otherwise....which was just what she wanted.

She drummed her fingers on the arm of her stone chair.

As she did so, the Glaceon crouched low in the bushes, waiting for another chance to attack.

((BTW, I meant clear as in not clouded or in a trance.....

Kaen, we're waiting on you!))

((I know, but Mistuki casted an illusion on the area to make them think that the eyes were clear to confuse them. =.=))

Mitsuki waved her hand, and thought: "Rise again, my friend."

She revived Okami, and spoke into it's mind: "Rip them, tear them, my friend."

((What do I do right now? Okami's in her Pokeball, Narakun wouldn't abandon her!))
